Help!

I can't stop eating! I don't know what is wrong with me. For a while there, I was so motivated and I was staying within my calorie limits, but now I've lost my motivation and I just feel hopeless. Ugh! Any suggestions?

Also, I think it is so hard to exercise when you have a newborn. I am exhausted all the time, so working out sounds like death. Man, this is hard.

I guess I just needed to vent. Thanks for listening. :)

It's the nursing, I swear it. I can't stop eating either. I eat at least 4 full meals a day. I'm just always hungry. And you can see that it took me 10 months before I started working out again after my baby. So you are inspiring that you are even trying right now. GO ASHLEY! As far as advice, I stock my kitchen with almonds and stuff to make smoothies. That way when I want to snack and I want something salty, I eat a handful of almonds. And if I want something sweet I make a fruit smoothie with fruit, yogurt, honey and oatmeal. Both are really filling and semi - fulfill the craving, but are a lot healthier for you than a lot of other alternatives. Also, dove dark chocolate is a nice thing to have on hand for when you really really need to indulge because they don't have all the man-made crap in them and they have tons of antioxidants, so it's KIND of a healthy indulgence. Hope that helps. I'm cheering for you!!!

Oh, by the way, in my smoothies I use frozen fruit. That way it's cheaper and tastes more like sherbet. It's really yummy.

You really just have to tough it out. You have to exercise even when you don't feel like it. No matter how tired you are you just have to make yourself go workout. If I'm really not feeling like working out I tell myself I'll just workout or run for a short amount of time and by the time I'm done with that time I feel like working out and I'll finish the whole workout. Starting the habit is the hardest. It gets easier. You just have to do it. And I know you can do it!

Working out consistently will change your life. Not only will you lose weight, have more energy, look better, become healthier, you will become happier with yourself and have so much more confidence. Working out daily is empowering. Once it becomes part of your life you will feel like you have total control of your life and time. You will no longer have the nagging feeling in the back of your mind that you need to workout- which you will have the rest of your life if you don't. When you lose that feeling you are open to do so many more things. If you can get control of this one thing in your life you will feel like you can do anything. I'm not kidding- you will be so happy. Do you watch the Biggest Loser? I love that show because you can see not only the physical change but the emotional change. When you are in control of the physical part of your life you are sooo much happier and have so more confidence. And that confidence spills over into the rest of your life. It's not just about losing the weight, it's taking control of your life and your time. And you will reap the health benefits for the rest of your life.

Well, I pretty much just wrote a novel. But, I feel very strongly about working out and eating right. And I really think eating right gets so much easier the more you workout. Hopefully, this motivates you a little! You can do it Ashley!!

PS I know you can find time to workout with kids. You just have to prioritize. As soon as Beckham goes down for his nap I start working out. Even if I'm in the middle of something. I drop everything else and start working out. I'm also guilty of occasionally putting Beckham in front of Baby Einstein so I can finish the workout if he wakes up early. A few minutes without attention isn't going to hurt him. When Beckham was Kates age it was a lot easier. You can put her in a bouncer or a swing. So, you mostly have to work around Paige. There's got to be time where Paige is napping or doing an activity. You can find time! I know it's possible. I may not have finished cleaning the house or read all the blogs I wanted too, but at least I got a workout in.

Nursing made me STARVING! I just finished nursing Ethan and my appetite is slowly decreasing, but for almost 11 months I felt starving......all the time.

With Ethan it took me about 3 months to start losing weight....it hung on, unlike with Breanna. I didn't start "working out" til at least 6-8 weeks after Ethan. I was overwhelmed with 2 kids and trying to exercise. So, I made my goal to do 20 minutes of ANYTHING per day. Walking outside (with both kids in the stroller), aerobic video, my own made up workout with handweights.....anything. A lot of times I tried to get Breanna to "exercise" with me b/c there was NO way I was going to exercise during her naptime, I would have to take a nap then b/c I was exhausted and it was the only break during the day.

I got a workout dvd and then kind of memorized the movements after watching it a number of times....then I would do the exercises while watching a FUN show that I wanted to watch, so it made the 20 minutes go by quick. I felt better about myself after those 20 minutes and felt a little more energetic (not going to lie, not every day, but some days).

You can do it Ashley! Also, get a lot of healthy snacks so that you can eat when you feel hungry and not have to deprive yourself. If I didn't eat when I felt starving, then I started getting horrible headaches, dizzy, fatigued, and was a mean mom....so EAT! Your body needs it b/c your nursing, but eat so you don't feel guilty.
